About Story Club

Story Club started in Chicago back in 2009. Its founder, Dana Norris, wanted to mix the spontaneity of an open mic with the experience of live theater. She created a forum for writers/performers to display their nonfiction storytelling prowess, be it memorized or read from the page.

Story Club quickly grew and now includes multiple shows across the county, including two in Chicago and another in Minneapolis. We've had everyone from college history professors to New York Times Bestselling authors to members of an all-girl Beastie Boys cover band step up to our mic and share their stories.  Want to start a Story Club in your town, or even in your neighborhood?  Email Dana today and get this thing started.

Ken Green brought Story Club to Boston in 2013. A newspaper reporter and editor, Ken started off in the poetry slam scene, becoming a member of four Chicago teams to compete in the National Poetry Slam. Several years ago he turned his attention to fiction and essays writing, as well as playwriting (in 2006 his placed third in the Goodman Theater's David Mamet Write-Alike Contest with a somewhat profane Mametized version of "The Wizard of Oz.") He is a lifelong Chicago White Sox fans who finds his baseball patience being tested living in Boston.
